Welcome to FlightSafety Academy

You want to fly. The sky is your destination. And you want to be the best pilot up there. This is where you need to be.

FlightSafety Academy is one of the world’s leading flight training schools and is an integral part of FlightSafety International, one of the most trusted names in aviation training. When airlines and corporations look for safety-minded aviation professionals, they turn to us. As a student at the Academy, you know we’re dedicated to getting you into the cockpit as a pro pilot. That’s why we offer three focused paths to the sky.

Flight Safety

Advanced Airline Training Program Path

Your sights are set on becoming an airline pilot. The Advanced Airline Training Program is the most direct route to a position as a first officer with a regional airline. To be selected for this intensive, four-phase program, you must meet the minimum requirements and successfully complete the application process. If selected, you will begin the challenging four-phase program with an evaluation of your single-engine and multi-engine skills (Phases I and II) which must meet the Commercial Pilot Standards (note: phases I and II are not required for Academy CIME graduates). Once you meet those standards, you’ll interview with one of the participating airlines. If the interview is successful, you will be given a Conditional Offer of Employment (C.O.E.) allowing you to continue with the program. You will then undergo line operational experience at the ATP level in a Seminole aircraft (Phase III) followed by advanced systems training in the ERJ 145 Level “D” simulator (Phase IV). Upon successful completion of Phase IV, you will then proceed to Basic Indoctrination Training with your chosen airline.

Business Jet Direct Path

The Instructor Course is behind you and you’ve chosen to become a business jet pilot. Upon successful completion of the screening with FlightSafety Academy, you may choose from one of 16 FlightSafety International Training Centers where you will become Second In Command qualified (SIC) in one of the business jet training programs offered at that particular center. This means you could become SIC qualified in any aircraft from the Citation to the Gulfstream. As a paid employee, you’ll have the advantage of gaining valuable right-seat simulator hours. You’ll also get the chance to network with key FlightSafety Clients for the three months you’re there, giving you a better chance at the career you want.

Instructor Path – Academy

You’ve successfully completed the Commercial Pilot Course and you’ve chosen to build your experience by becoming an Instructor. First, you must continue your training with the Commercial Single Engine program (2 weeks) followed by the Certified Flight Instructor Course (CFI-A) (10 weeks). Once you’ve earned your CFI-A, we’ll give you a chance to interview for a position as a FlightSafety Academy instructor. If hired, you can earn your CFII and MEI at employee rates. Once you fulfilled a 800 hours instructor commitment at FlightSafety Academy, we will reimburse you the money that you invested in the CFII and MEI after you were hired. The valuable hours and essential job skills you develop while working as a flight instructor within the Academy’s training programs will strengthen your career opportunities to become a professional pilot with top airline or corporate flight departments.

Instructor Path – FlightSafety Learning Center

Once you have fulfilled the 800-hour instructor commitment at the academy you may want to consider becoming a FlightSafety Learning Center Instructor at one of our 40 learning centers throughout the world. FlightSafety Learning Center instructors are given the opportunity to instructor FlightSafety clients on some of the most advanced equipment in the world. They also have the added benefit of having a regular work schedule with a generous salary and benefits.

Once selected, the Learning Center Instructor Path will begin at the FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach, FL, where you will become qualified to instruct in one of our type-specific training programs (Part 142). After gaining some experience you will be able to move onto one of the other FlightSafety Learning Centers that are in need of instructors.
