About the Pilot Journey Top Flight School Award

Pilot Journey established the Top Flight School award in September of 2006. Starting at that time we began collecting responses from our surveys on our website and from links to the survey posted on other websites. In addition we send links to this survey in selected emails that we send out.
The method we use to "score" each survey is confidential, however it utilizes a point system for the responses collected. Postive responses increase the score and negative responses decrease the score that a particular flight school will obtain. To insure the integrity of the survey we collect the internet address (IP) in addition to the date and time the survey was completed. This helps us remove results where a single computer or person might have been used to manipluate the scores.
The survey questions are located here: http://pilotjourney.com/topflight
Since flight schools come in all sizes where some might have 1 airplane and 10 students and some have 40 airplanes and 200 students we use a ratio of responses to airplanes/students. This means that smaller schools require fewer points to earn the award and larger schools require more points.
It took until February 26, 2007 for the first school to earn enough points to be awarded the Top Flight Seal.
A flight school only may only display the award while they maintain the required score. In addition in order for the flight school to display the award on a website, the school must use the special validation link that comes with the award. Clicking on the award will verify the validaty of the award.
If you have a flight school and want to increase the chances that your school is selected all your need to do is link to this page on your website and tell your customers to complete the survey.
If you know of a school that was awarded the Top Flight Award and you feel they do not deserve it, please contact us with the details.
